Information about our Care Home Signage
Signage for the Care Sector
The vca care home signs have been devised to increase the independence of care home residents allowing them to 'path find' their way round the home.
What is Best Practise for signage design is based upon?
In short: Colour, Clarity and Contrast.
- The signs throughout a home should be uniform, in a clear consistent font.
- Signage need to be securely fastened, blue tack, sellotape, drawing pins are not secure enough and could cause Health and Safety issues.
- The signs should have a matt finish as people with dementia can be confused when they see their reflection, they may not recognise the person looking back at them. Therefore laminating signs may confuse rather than help residents.
- Signs need to be hung at the appropriate height, in the resident’s line of sight.
Our vca signs are self-adhesive, tough, non-reflective, waterproof signs have bold lettering and easily recognised images on a bright coloured background. Produced on an industry regulated 3mm foamex board, the signs come in two sizes, 26cm x 26cm and 15cm x 15cm.
